Welcome!

Thank you for visiting Tintinabbey Studio! I have been making art my whole life. One of the greatest art lessons I ever had was simple advice from my mom when I was about eight years old. I was drawing something and was frustrated that it didn’t look as much like the subject as I’d wanted. My mom told me to stop drawing what I thought something looked like, and instead to look at what I wanted to draw. Break it into lines and shapes and draw those. Only then will you be able to draw something accurately. This is a simple lesson, but it blew me away! I started looking at things in a completely new way—lines, angles, curves, shadows. When I’m in “drawing mode,” I see everything this way, and I love the way it makes me look at the world. Sometimes I draw things because I know it’s the only way I’ll notice all of the details. If there’s a place that I love, I’ll draw it so I can notice its beauty and quirks. When I started drawing my infant son, I got to know his features in a way I couldn’t have, even with the hours I spent gazing at his face. Drawing is my way of knowing the world, and I’m very glad to know it this way.

Please see samples of my work in the tabs at the top of the page. I love to draw and paint portraits, landscapes, and plants and flowers. If you are interested, my artwork is available as prints, original pieces, and greeting cards, and I am also available for commissions. Please contact me at abigail.b.allison(AT)gmail.com if you are interested in a commission or in purchasing any of my work. You can also visit my Fine Art America shop to purchase prints: http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/abigail-allison.html.

Thank you for your interest in my art. Now I’m off to draw the world!
